Call for projects – CREaFARM

Call for projects

The CREaFARM project is an initiative of the Echevinat du Développement économique et territorial de la Ville de Liège, whose objective is, after identifying land and defining production models, to encourage the establishment of agricultural entrepreneurs on the territory of the City of Liège.

CREaFARM aims to promote access to land by making plots of land available free of charge in order to stimulate self-creation of jobs and to develop agricultural production activities. The aim is to encourage the emergence of short distribution channels in order to meet the growing consumer demand for quality local products.

In order to broaden the scope of the project and to support new applicants, the CREaFARM project rules were amended at the Local Council meeting on 31 January to include non-food projects.

The objective of the College is to rehabilitate plots of land where the soil analysis shows that the pollution level is too high to allow the production of vegetables for human consumption, thanks to a professional project of plant cultivation in order to transform them into energy or materials, to trade them, to use them in research and development in phytoremediation or to set up a natural reserve.

These non-food planting projects can take various forms, such as cut flowers, miscanthus, wicker, etc.

This change is officially taking shape with the launch of two calls for non-food projects (see flyer) for :

  • The Gaillard Cheval plot: a 10,800 m² plot of land located at the intersection of rue Gaillard Cheval and rue de la Soquette in 4000 Liège.
  • The boulevard Hector Denis plot: a group of 9,000 m² of plots of land located on either side of the rue du Géron on the boulevard Hector Denis in 4000 Liège.

The CREaFARM food project call (see flyer) concerns :

  • the 10,466 m² plot of land located in rue Arbre Courte-Joie 40 in 4000 Liège is being relaunched.

The technical data sheets for the three plots are available on the website: https://alimentation-locale.liege.be

The three calls for projects will run from 18 March 2022 to 30 June 2022.

Applicants interested in one of these sites are invited to visit the site and then to fill in an application form online at: https://alimentation-locale.liege.be
