The partners of the New-C-Land project organised an online meeting on 4 November 2021 to present 3 uses of non-food biomass in products and materials. This was an opportunity to present concrete and inspiring cases of the valorisation of non-food biomass while debating the feasibility of producing this biomass on marginal sites.
Multiple applications
When non-food biomass is mentioned, the first use considered is energy. However, biomass can be used in other fields such as chemistry or eco-construction, as demonstrated during this virtual meeting with Minafin, BioWood and BioWill.
In addition to the presentation of 3 ways of valorising plant matter into molecules and materials, the use of marginal sites to locate the supply was discussed.
